Happy Birthday, Girls!!

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

My lovely kids had their 2nd birthday recently. Our day started off with Amelie throwing up on herself in the car on the way up the 405. We turned around and gave her a bath. Then we motivated to get back on the road and Lydia opened the car door when I was going about 65 miles an hour. We finally made it to Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark which was a lot of fun. We picked fresh strawberries, raspberries, red leaf lettuce, Anaheim and jalapeno chiles and beets. The girls got to see goats and ride ponies. If you ever go there, pack a lunch. We were starving and pigged out at Panda Express on the way back. I can’t wait to go back there. It was such a satisfying experience pulling out beets and lettuce from the ground. It reminded me of my grandma’s garden when I was growing up! Special thanks to Angela and Aunt Reina for coordinating the Filipino Mango cake and balloons!IMG_0826 (this video is sideways!!)

Amelie has been talking up a storm, imitating everyone including TV announcers. I guess I must be letting them watch too much TV when she likes to announce “Dino Dan next!” and “PBS Kids!” Luckily, Howard Cosell is no longer with us. She also must have picked up “No way!” from me. We taught her to stop saying it but now Lydia has taken over. She knows her dinosaurs very well and can tell a stegosaurus from a triceratops…scary smart!

Lydia is not as eloquent as her sister, but she is definitely talkative. She is the most serious pony rider I’ve ever seen and likes to pinch and pull at her sister’s hair when she grabs toys from her. I think I should enter them in the roller derby someday. We recently found out that her wavy hair comes from my dad. Here I was attributing it to “Jew Fro” and it is really a “Ko Fro! (Korean afro) My dad is finally home after 3 months. We are relieved although he is already back to work!

The girls and I also recently had fun with our toddler friend at the new Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica. The weather has been just glorious and this is such a great place to enjoy the beach in a safe, clean environment. I highly recommend it!

Thanks again to my peers for nominating me to the 2012 Los Angeles Magazine Southern California Super Doctors and the 2011 Top Women Southern California Super Doctors list. It is nice to know that the people I work with entrust their patients with my care and that my dedication to good patient care is recognized.
