Thank you to Dr. Babak Azzizadeh and the ENT/Facial Plastics community for inviting me to their joint UCLA/USC Facial Plastics Journal Club. I was in the company of some of the most thoughtful and talented facial plastic and oculoplastic surgeons in our greater Los Angeles community and their residents and fellows. We had a lively discussion of several articles pertaining to Mohs reconstruction and wrinkle fillers while enjoying a great steak dinner and wine. I saw some familiar faces, met many new colleagues, and we all learned a lot from each other.

Don’t Fry Day is Friday, May 22nd. May is also Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Don’t forget to get your annual skin examination. I’ve found more melanoma in the past year than ever before. It’s often not the mole or lesion the patient is worried about. Also consider giving to Sun Safety For Kids, a 501c3 non-profit organization of which I am a board member. It is committed to research projects and promotion of sun safety practices in children. The website is sunsafetyforkids.org.
