Office Locations

Dr. Shim has two convenient office locations in Santa Monica and Pasadena.

The Santa Monica office is located at 20th St. and Arizona Ave. The parking entrance is off of 20th St. We do not validate.

For the Pasadena office, Alessandro Place is a small street across from the Public Storage (orange sign), a few blocks S. of California Ave. near Huntington Hospital. Parking is available in the lot at the end of the culdesac.

Insurance & Financial Policies

Dr. Shim participates in Medicare and a limited amount of private insurance. We will bill Medicare and any insurance companies we are contracted with. Mohs surgery patients will also have their bills submitted to insurance, but if we are not contracted with your insurance company, you will be required to put down a partial deposit, which will be applied to your final bill.

Other patients are seen on a fee-for-service basis. We provide you with a copy of your superbill, which you may submit to your insurance company. Because we may not be contracted with your insurance, you will be subject to the terms and deductibles of your policy for "non-providers." We see a great deal of patients who still come to see us despite the fact that we are not contracted; however, do realize that you are always responsible for knowing what, if any, reimbursement they may provide you. We have billing assistants who can help you through this process or help you if there is any dispute with your insurance company.

At this time, Dr. Shim is contracted with: Medicare, First Health/Coventry, and Foundation for Medical Care. HMOs include Healthcare Partners and Bright Medical. You may want to call for an update. Again, even if your insurance company is not listed here, we are more than happy to see you, but you are financially responsible for knowing the terms of your policy and are expected to pay at the time of your visit.

Cosmetic procedures are paid for at the time of your visit. We often waive the consult fee if your procedure is performed the same day.
