Injectable wrinkle fillers are treatments used for:
The most popular fillers, Restylane® and Juvéderm®, are both hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the middle layer of the skin. It is a thick clear soft gel that attracts water and helps build collagen. Results from these fillers often last 9 months or longer. Hydrelle™ is a new hyaluronic acid filler with lidocaine to minimize discomfort.
There are also other wrinkle fillers that are sometimes used, such as Radiesse®, a wrinkle filler made of calcium, and Sculptra™, which is a suspension of dissolvable suture material. Their effects can last longer, but they are more expensive and have more potential for complications. Cosmoderm® and most other collagen fillers are no longer available due to their waning popularity.
Fat transfer is another option which can be discussed with Dr. Shim.
